Wildwood is located in western Saint Louis County, in the Saint Louis metro area of eastern Missouri. Saint Louis County is bordered by Saint Charles County to the north, Jefferson County to the south, Franklin County to the west, and St. Louis city and the state of Illinois to the east.

The city of Wildwood has a total area of 66.4 square miles, 66.0 square miles of which is land and 0.4 square miles of which is water. Sitting at an elevation of 755 feet, it occupies the third-largest territory of any city in Missouri. It is located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, bordered by both the Meramec and Missouri Rivers.

Parks/Sports/Recreation/Golf
Recognized as one of the more rural communities in the area, Wildwood features over 11 square miles of state park land, nature preserve, and county parkland. These areas include Babler State Park, Rockwoods Reservation and Range and Greensfelder County Park. Babler State Park features a swimming pool and 2,439 acres with hiking trails and horseback trails.
The city is creating new extensive roadside bike and pedestrian trails connecting residential areas to schools, parks and the Towne Center. Local parks include Kohn Park, and the city’s new Anniversary Park. The Old Pond School location is also going to be used as a park facility with a small museum, and community meeting space.
The August A. Busch Memorial Wildlife at St. Charles encompasses 7,000 acres, with all types of wildlife, and public fishing in 33 lakes. Nearby Hidden Valley Ski Resort attracts approximately 60,000 skiers every winter. This 25-acre resort has two triple chairlifts and eight ski runs. The 186-mile long Katy Trail, just west of Chesterfield, extends from St. Charles to Sedalia, along the majestic bluffs of the Missouri River, offering a full range of biking and hiking opportunities.
Those who love a game of golf can enjoy the Championship course at the Forest Hills Country Club in Chesterfield, where the LPGA Tour's The Heartland Classic is hosted. Some public courses in the area include Ballwin Golf Course, Chesterfield Valley Golf Center, The Landings at Spirit, and The Missouri Bluffs. In addition, nearby St. Louis has a full range of approximately 22 courses, both private and public. The 770-acre Towne Center is Wildwood’s focal point, with a blend of multi-use developments, delightful neighborhoods and an old-fashioned Main Street. The community gets together annually to celebrate Wildwood Days, in recognition of the town’s rich heritage.
There are many interesting and enjoyable attractions in the nearby areas. The fascinating Kemp Auto Museum in Chesterfield has one of the largest collections of vintage Mercedes-Benz automobiles in all of North America. The Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood has 50-acres of remarkable displays including passenger and freight locomotives, automobiles, boats and airplanes. You can visit Six Flags St. Louis Theme Park for a day of exciting roller coasters or relaxing shows, or enjoy the pools, rivers, and waterslides at Hurricane Harbor Water Park.

Interesting Facts/Historic Buildings and Places
Wildwood was incorporated on September 1, 1995. In 2003, it was rated by Money Magazine as the third-hottest place to live, for a city with population under 100,000, in the Central Region of the United States.
Along Eatherton Road in Wildwood, are a half-dozen of the Orrville community’s original buildings. Robert Orr, who was one of Orrville's leading citizens, owned most of the land in town, and was Justice of the Peace for six years. He donated the land on which the present Antioch Baptist Church was built, in 1860. The Hoppenberg-Fick General Store and Post Office, built around 1867, and William Parks Bacon’s home (the finest house in the community) are both still standing.
The Daniel Boone Home and Boonesfield Village are historical sites located in the nearby city of Defiance, displaying the frontier spirit of the area’s earliest settlers. This authentically furnished home was America’s folk hero’s final residence.
